A great team of Rotarians, a lot of hard work and the packing of 360 Hampers in less than 5 hours.
This was an exceptional achievement and our thanks go to all of those who helped with the picking and packing. The project will bring a lot of happiness to many people and we thank the trustees of Southampton Solent Rotary whose generosity provided the funding for this project..
This also enabled us to work with a number of local organisations in the city and foster relationships for the future. It was also the first major project where members from different Rotary Clubs were able to meet under the new banner of Southampton Solent Rotary. A great way for people to get to know each other. The beneficiaries and partners in this project were: Communicare 80 Age UK Southampton 70 Southampton Council assisted living 90 Salvation Army 30 Muslim community 11 Hindu community 10 Sikh community 10 Independents 7 Graces Kitchen 15 Chinese Organisation 30 A successful logistics operation enabled hampers to be collected throughout the day and avoid space issues in a confined environment. The project was completed on the Friday with the final collections from Southampton Council and the Salvation Army. With special thanks to Iceland Foods for providing the contents and the bags.
